Financing

Buying your first car? Let's make it simple.

No credit history isn't bad credit. It's a blank page. Just turned 18, a new grad, new to the country or you've simply never needed a loan: I'll walk you through every step.

How I can help

Plain-English walk-through

APR, loan term, amount financed, down payment: I'll explain every number on the paperwork before you sign anything.

First-buyer programs

Manufacturer finance companies sometimes offer programs for first-time buyers and recent college graduates. I'll check what's currently available for Mazda, Volkswagen and Audi.

A start on your credit history

A first car loan paid on time can help build your credit history when the lender reports to the credit bureaus.

What can strengthen an application

  • Proof of steady income, like recent pay stubs or an offer letter
  • A down payment, if you can manage one
  • A co-signer with established credit, if a lender asks for one
  • An insurance quote before you choose the car, so there are no surprises
  • A budget that includes insurance, fuel and maintenance, not just the payment
  • Looking at certified pre-owned too, for a manufacturer-backed warranty at a lower price

What to bring

  • Driver's license
  • Proof of income
  • Proof of residence
  • Proof of insurance, or be ready to set it up
  • Your down payment method

Apply with the store

When you're ready, apply on the dealership's own finance page. Not sure which store? Text me.

These links open each dealership's own website. Applications, credit checks and credit decisions happen there, under the dealership's and lenders' terms and privacy policies.

Common questions

Can I buy a car with no credit history?

Many first-time buyers do. Lenders look at things like income, job stability and down payment, and some may ask for a co-signer. Approval isn't guaranteed, but having no history doesn't rule you out.

Do I need a co-signer?

Not always. It depends on the lender and your overall application. If one is requested, remember the co-signer is equally responsible for the loan.

How much car can I afford?

Start with the total monthly cost of owning the car: the payment plus insurance, fuel and maintenance. The payment estimator on my home page gives a rough idea, and I'll help you land on a number that's comfortable.
